Writing for Engineering
Introduction
Hello, my name is Mosammed Uddin and I would love to introduce myself and give you an idea of who I am as an individual. Before I do so, I want to tell you how others perceive. They say I am creative and confident. I am not surprised about the creative part because I have been interested in drawing and makeup. I love self-expression and I embody it a lot. But it is surprising how they say I am confident because I do not feel that way when talking to others but it is nice to portray that way.
I am a Bangladeshi-American and my parents immigrated from Chittagong, a place in Bangladesh in the 2000s. I was born in 2003 and I am currently 19. The languages I speak are English, Bangla, and French. In high school, I took French for three years and continued learning it through Duo Lingo after graduating. My favorite subjects in school were English and science. My extracurricular activities included debate and coding club. I enjoyed debate because it gave me a reason to get out of my comfort zone and talk. I was also the captain of my team. Coding club was a learning experience for me and I met a lot of similar people as me. Other than that, my hobbies include drawing, makeup, fashion, and film. I love horror films and I also listen to podcasts in my free-time.

This is my second semester at City College and I look forward to further semesters here. I am majoring in Computer Science and the reason behind that is because I was always infatuated with science and space. Now you may ask how they are connected to computer science? Well in a modern world like this, you need engineers to program and code. Without it, there wouldn’t have been big changes to society. Because of coding, we get to talk to people from all over the world and be closer to them online rather than in person. I think it is one of the reasons why people weren’t so bored over quarantine.
When I was younger, I went to the planetarium and it was one of the most memorable experiences for me even though I don’t remember much. I just remember being lost in the star ceilings and feeling like I was up there in space. Space is such a mystery but it is also so calming to me. We are so little but with so much worry. My dream for the future is to work with a fashion tech company or space company since those are my interests.
Furthermore, I would like to learn about communicating and how to write in a topic like engineering. Also, how I should make the world more sustainable with engineering. Over the course of two weeks that we have been in class, I noticed that writing for engineer is more about sustainability and I did not know that. I also got to learn that there are other majors in this class for similar purposes and that is super interesting to me because I assumed engineering was all about computers and mechanics. The only concern I have is falling back behind readings but I know I will be on top of it.
